- A clicking sound, or dim dashboard lights? That’s almost always a flat battery. A jump start should get you going.
- Lights are bright but nothing happens? It could be the starter motor, the key or the immobiliser. Try your spare key if you have one.
- Engine turns over but won’t fire? That points to fuel or ignition. It needs a garage.
- Automatic? Check it’s in Park, with your foot on the brake.
- Keyless car? A flat battery in the key fob can stop it starting. Hold the fob against the start button and try again.
